The Chairman Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Minna Branch, Barrister Mohammed Abubakar El-surur has charged Security agents in the State, to rise up to their responsibility to rescue the pupils of Salihu Tanko Model Islamiya Academy Tegina in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.

He described the armed bandits that abducted the Islamiya pupils as heartless and inhuman for keeping them in captivity for the past two months.

The charge was contained in a press release signed by the chairman of the NBA and copy made available to CAPITAL POST in Minna, called on the men of the State Police command and other security agencies in the State to ensure the rescue of the pupils who were held captive by the armed bandits.

According to the NBA chairman, the unwholesome and ungodly activities of the armed bandits in some part of the North with particular attacks on schools is a serious set back to the educational development in the north stressing the need for relevant authority to leave up to their responsibility to curtail the activities of the armed bandits.

He decried the increasing rates of banditry activities in schools which he noted that if not checked, it will affect social economic and educational development of the region.

He expressed concern on the way the relevant authority were underestimating the activities of the armed bandits without doing anything within the ambit of their responsibility to bring them to justice describing the trend as unfortunate.

“The increasing proportion of these armed bandits particularly in the North is getting out of hands of the relevant authority.

“For these armed bandits to take joy in attacking schoolsschools, abducting school children without any resistance from the authority concerned is an absurd that should not be allowed.

“These bandits held these Tegina Islamiya pupils for over two months now without anything being done to rescue them from their captive is disturbing. Honestly something is wrong somewhere with our security net work in this country” he asserted.

The NBA, chairman requested for the deployment of joint team of security operatives to schools across the states proned to armed bandits attack to safeguard the students and the teachers against the incessant attacked on the schools.
