Sunday still being held by Beninoise authority
Contrary to our earlier reports that the Yoruba frontline agitator, Sunday Adeyemo has been released, it is confirmed that he’s being held by the Beninoise security operatives.
Sources available to CAPITAL POST on Wednesday morning indicated that Mr. Adeyemo who is popularly called ‘Igboho’ was arrested at the Cotonou Cadjehoun Airport on Monday night while attempting to escape to Germany after he was declared wanted by the Nigerian government.
Igboho’s residence in Ibadan was few weeks ago raided by operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) and stockpile of arms were alledgedly recovered.
Speaking in a zoom conversation organized by Heritage Multimedia TV, Professor Wale Adeniran dismissed such reports, stressing that Igboho is still being held by the Beninoise authorities.
Adeniran, a member of Ilana Omo Odua, umbrella body of Yoruba self-determination groups, revealed that his lawyer confirmed that the activist is still in custody.
“I have just spoken with his lawyer. The lawyer has visited the location where he (Igboho) is been held,” he said.
“He was not allowed to see him (Igboho) but they confirmed to him that they are holding him in that location.
