By Moses Mark
Senator Instifanus Gyang representing Plateau North Senatorial district has commended his colleagues and leadership of the Senate for doing justice by confirming the appointment of Prof. Mohammed Sani Adam (SAN) as National Commissioner of INEC.
It would be recalled that the Senate had cause to step down the confirmation of Professor Adam to enable its committee on INEC attend to a petition that emanated against his appointment.
Gyang in a press statement signed and issued by his Special Assistant, Media & Protocol, Hon. Musa Ibrahim Ashoms whixh was made available to CAPITAL POST in Jos on Thursday commended his colleagues.
The Senate committee on INEC of which Senator Gyang is a member did due diligence in attending to the petition and found that Professor Sani Adam was never dismissed by the University of Jos for misconduct as alleged by the petitioner. Rather, the Professor was affected by the Rationalization Policy and exercise of the Federal Government.
Prof. Adam challenged the rationalization action in court and the court judgement was based on whether or not his appointment should have been terminated and has nothing to do with his integrity or moral uprightness.
The Senate at its sitting of Thursday 15/07/21 received the report of the committee and voted unanimously on the recommendation for the confirmation of Prof. Mohammed Sani Adam (SAN) as National Commissioner INEC.
Senator Gyang congratulates Prof. Adam on confirmation of his appointment by the Senate and wish him successful tenure believing that his wealth of experience as an academician of repute and legal luminary of SAN standing will bring added value to INEC.
