Breaking: Again, NASS white house lobby leaks during rainfall
The white House of Nigeria’s National Assembly leaked heavily on Monday during rainfall that lasted for two hours.
The leakage was coming two weeks after the lobby that hosts visitors and aides of Senators and House of Representatives members first leaked.
The lobby serve as direct entrances to the lower and upper legislative Chambers.
Our correspondent witnessed heavy water flowing which the cleaners who are staff of Thaura, a private firm in charge of cleaning maintenance of the Senate building were working hard to curtail the water.
One of the cleaners who didn’t want to be quoted told CAPITAL POST that since two weeks ago that the water first leaked they have been on the alert given that no repair has been carried out yet.
He said each time there was rain, they would mobilise a large number of themselves with cleaning buckets to the lobby, stating that Monday’s downpour didn’t take them by surprise.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly management has repeatedly so the building is the property of the Federal Capital Development Administration (FCDA), hence they were not in a position to effect repairs.
The sum of N37 billion has last year been proposed for maintenance which was criticised by the masses as being outrageous.
