The youth wing of the ruling All Progressives Congress under the aegis of The Progressive Youth Movement said in Abuja that they were set to take over leadership, hence, they will begin to play frontal roles with immediate effect.
The decision followed the conference which has the support of the office of the APC youth leader, stating that the ruling party will henceforth be youth based to make it virile and strong and for the sustenance of its future.
In furtherance of the official communiqué which has been issued by the APC Youth Leader. the spokesman of the group, Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, said in Abuja that they will work towards ensuring making APC, a youth- based, strong and virile party, where the youths will determine the future of the party by holding vital key positions in the party structure.
“The meeting held in the nation’s capital early in the week “ decided that the National Chairman of our great party will not be over the age of 60 years while the Party Secretary of our great party will not be over the age of 50 years .” The Progressive Youth of the party equally resolved that “ 50% of the financial budget for the convention must be given to the Youth wing of the APC subsequently” .
Princess Audu also stated that in addition to the position of Youth Leader, the positions of Organizing Secretary, National Auditor, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Secretary, Woman Leader, Welfare Secretary, shall be occupied by members under the age of 45 years while all deputy/vice positions be given to party members below the age of 45 The group also noted that “justice, equity and fairness will become the building blocks and watch words of our great party”.
The group also noted that from now on, supremacy of the party and strict compliance to the party constitution must be adhered to while a new party reward committee will be set up to ensure that all party faithful are rewarded for their contributing to the growth and success of the great party. In that respect “ every party official from the chairman down to those at the ward level will be well taken care of, moving forward.
And that “ We WILL play a vital role in the planning phase of the upcoming convention to ensure strict adherence to the above stated conditions and most importantly, to ensure that there is justice, equity and fairness leading up to the convention.
It stated that convention must be held as soon as possible to ensure that the party is well stabilized before going into the 2023 general elections and that all delegates below the age of 50 years (which equates to over 90% of our delegates) have been mandated to follow these guidelines strictly and that any deviation by our great Party from the above stated guidelines will lead to serious rancor in the Party and will cause a division and a tear in our great Party that may never be healed.
Committees will be set up to ensure that these conditions are implemented and enforced, all party members under 50 years of age are welcome to express interest in being part of these committees.
A time table of events will be further released on activities to be carried out to ensure these plans are achieved. There must be room for younger minds to be involved in the planning and implementation of party affairs.
