Arrest rumour: Abaribe sighted at Power Committee meeting
Amid rumours that Nigeria’s Senate Minority leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Security Services on Thursday, he was sighted at the Senate Committee on Power.
He participated throughout the Committee’s public hearing and he could be seen in Navy blue caftan seated next to the Chairman of the Committee and former governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswam.
The Committee met at hearing room 2.21 for few hours with full media coverage.
CAPITAL POST’s enquiries earlier in the day in his 4.14 office didn’t reveal anything to worry among Senator Abaribe’s staff even though he wasn’t on seat at the time of investigation when the arrest rumour was rife.
His arrest rumour might not be unconnected with his usual lashings on government actions considered anti-democratic.
Recently, President Muhammadu Buhari on a popular television described Igbo people in the Southeast Nigeria as a dot in a circle.
The aspersion may have not gone down well with Senator Abaribe who later wore a T-shirt with inscription ” The Dot Nation”, in protest.
