Despite a prolonged war of words between the governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom and President Muhammadu Buhari over endless Fulani herdsmen attacks in Nigeria and in particular, Benue State, the governor has revealed how he prays for President Buhari all the times.

The frosty relationship between the governor and the President was ocassioned by attack on the people of Benue State by Fulani herders who vowed to make the State ungovernable but, which the presidency wasn’t forthcoming in cautioning the Fulani marauders.

Change of Name

The Fulani vowed to attack Benue State for Ortom to dare ban open grazing in Benue State since his first tenure as governor.

The Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to President Buhari, Garba Shehu has lampooned the governor for challenging the President over insecurity in the State.

Ortom however, revealed in his Democracy Day media briefing that he would always pray for President Muhammadu Buhari in his usual morning devotion.

The governor recalled that Benue people did pray for the President when he has health challenges, stating that as a born again Christian he has no reason to hate anybody.

He, however, admitted that they both have some disagreement over policies not favorable to the people of the state.

“I am a Christian; born again for that matter. And I have no reason to hate anyone. The president is my president.

“I pray for the president every day in my devotion. When the president was sick, Benue state was the first state that organised prayers for him under my watch.

“We can disagree on policy issues. But I don’t hate the president. My president is Muhammadu Buhari.

“But the president cannot force me to violate the Constitution which I swore to uphold,” Ortom said concerning his relationship with the President
