I declared N100 billion worth of properties to Code of Conduct Bureau before being governor – Okorocha

Former governor of Imo State and Senator representing Imo West Senatorial district, Rochas Anayo Okorocha has revealed that he declared over N100 billion worth of properties in his asset declaration form with the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) before he became a governor.

He boasted that hewas wealthy and has made a name as ‘Rochas’ before being governor, stating that if he wanted to be corrupt, he wouldn’t have invested in Imo State.

While reacting to Imo State being one of the least corrupt States during his tenure in a Webinar discussion with Nigerians in South Africa, he said, the National Bureau of Statistics, an entity of government rated Imo, one of the least corrupt States.

He said: “In my Code Conduct of Bureau form, I have properties worth over a 100 billion naira before I became a governor; I was Rochas before I became a governor and if I want to be corrupt why would I build in Imo state, if not wealth and job creation for the people.

“Imo state during my tenure as governor is the least corrupt states according to National Bureau for Statistics in partnership with Amnesty International research and findings.

“I challenged the EFCC as at then to prove me corrupt on the issue of the frozen account which was not my account as claimed, but was the account of the State, which they denied me access to it even while I was a sitting governor and such action was political geared towards 2023.

“For the first time a politician in Nigeria challenged the EFCC on account of corruption claims and I requested them to apologize for that action and which they did.

“I had challenged the whole nation and the Imo people to put all that have being since the creation of the State if they could beat my records, then I will resign from politics.

This was disclosed on the bureau report titled “2nd corruption survey report in Nigeria” released one time at the State House conference Center in Abuja.

“This report as support by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in collaboration with other partner international agencies, rated Imo State with 17.6% followed by Jigawa and Plateau states.

“The survey report also showed that unemployment, insecurity, corruption, are the major problems of Nigeria”, he maintained.
