Vigilante group in Koton Karfe have lost a 26 year old member, Mr. Awwal Mohammed in gun duel with kidnappers near
Agbudu community in Koton-Karfe Local Government Council of Kogi state.

A member who survived the gun battle but preferred to remain anonymous confirmed the casualty on the side of Vigilante, but said some kidnappers might have escaped with gun shot wounds on Tuesday night.

According to source, the vigilante mobilised themselves to the hideout of kidnappers in the forest and upon sighting them, they opened fire.

“Actually, it was when the vigilante arrived at the village on Tuesday night while it was raining at that time and decided to camp somewhere, until after the rain has subsided when they came out, they discovered the kidnappers camp,” he said.

He added: ” So, shortly after the rain, we now came out to engage them, and without knowing one of the kidnappers was coming from behind in which he opened fire and shot one of the vigilante dead,” he said.

Chairman of Koton Karfe Local Government Council, Alhaji Isah Abdulkarim when told, was said to have been sad about the dead vigilante.

The Spokesman of the Kogi State Police command, ASP Williams Ovye Aya, was yet to respond to his calls.
