Primary school teachers in Kaduna State are groaning over salary cut which none of the Local Government Chairmen has explained reasons behind the development.

In a letter written by the Nigeria Union of Teachers which was signed by the Assistant Secretary-General, Adamu Ango and addressed to the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry for Local Government, teachers sought for explanation of salary cuts for the month of April.

A copy of the letter which was obtained by CAPITAL POST on Wednesday, further lamented the delay in payment of salaries, even as they used to be paid two to three weeks into the new month.

Part of the letter reads: “I am directed to inquire from you by the State Wing of the Executive Council (SWEC) that April, 2021 monthly salaries were paid with cuts and no explanation as to what led to cuts.

“Moreover, monthly salaries as it affects primary school teachers are always paid two to three weeks into the new month, making them the last to be paid in the State.”

The teachers further appealed for clarification from the Commissioner, while asking him to compel Local Government Chairmen to understand that the delay and cuts in salaries were multiplying their woes.
