NCPC Boss commends Plateau NUJ for being professional in practice
The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission Rev. Yakubu Pam has commended the Plateau State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists for their professionalism.
He disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the NUJ, Plateau State Chapter led by the Chairman, Mr. Paul Jatau in his office on 3rd June, 2021 in Abuja.
He explained that journalism in Plateau State has evolved positively over the years especially in their gatekeeping role. In his words, “years after the founding fathers, you are still keeping the industry going and making us proud”.
The NCPC boss stated that Journalists in Plateau State have always stood tall in times of crisis in the State. According to him, “you have ensured that news is disseminated objectively and this has brought about peace and unity in the Plateau”, he added, “you have conducted yourselves very well to keep the culture of professional reporting”.
Rev Pam explained that Plateau State is a mini Nigeria reflecting different tribes, religion, and culture, stating that anybody who can rule Plateau State can as well rule Nigeria successfully.
The Executive Secretary intimated that the Commission would partner with Plateau State NUJ to promote peace and professional journalism in the country. He further stated that he would ensure that the people of Plateau gets the good result of what the NUJ is doing.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Plateau State Council, Mr. Paul Jatau said that the reason for their visit was to collaborate, interact and exchange ideas with the Executive Secretary and the Commission. He added that the NUJ is aware of the milestone Rev. Pam had made in the area of peace building in the country.
He urged the Executive Secretary to continue to be the beacon of peace in Nigeria, especially now that the country is going through hard times. In his words, “we urge you to use your good offices to reach out to whoever you can to help bring back peace to our dear country”.
The Chairman of the NUJ, Mr. Paul Jatau was accompanied on the visit by all the Executive Members of the Council.
