Abia State CID, Immigration office under fire of gunmen in Umuahia

Unknown gunmen on Saturday evening set blaze the Abia State Criminal Investigation Department and the Nigeria Immigration office.

The Nigeria Immigration headquarters at Ubakala in Umuahia was reportedly set ablaze simultaneously with the State CID.

Residents were apprehensive when the Police engaged gunmen amid loud noise of gunfire and everyone close to the vicinity scampered for safety.

Columns of thick smoke emanating from the facility located along Uzuakoli Road Umuahia could be sighted from different locations of the city.

As at the time of filing this report, it was only a keke operator that was alledgedly hit by a stray bullet and died on the spot.

Reports say heavy gunfire was coming from the location of the Port Harcourt expressway where the NIS office is located.

But a police source at the Zone 9 Police Command Umuahia which would not want to be mentioned confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
