ICPC parades FRSC officials over certificates scam

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested two officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) for certificates forgery, CAPITAL POST reports.

The FRSC officials Achigili Ogoli and Edwin Onyuwe were arrested alongside two members of external syndicate, Sunday Okpara and Abdulrahman Razak, who alledgedly forged the certificate of the University of Abuja for the two FRSC staff.

The embattled FRSC staff ran into trouble when the Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi petitioned the ICPC, alleging that the two officials had approached the management of FRSC with forged Bachelor of Science degrees in Public Administration, from the University of Abuja, to be upgraded to officer cadre.

The accused staff have also presented statement of results suspected to be fake to the FRSC management from the University of Abuja asking for upgrade to officers cadre.

Oyeyemi revealed that investigation by the FRSC discovered that Onyuwe and Ogoli, paid N500,000 to a criminal element in the University to falsify results that they were originals approved by the university to support their claims.

Meanwhile, investigation by the ICPC further revealed that the officials were part time students who couldn’t finish their programmes for unknown reasons.

They met with a syndicate at a time to issue forged degree certificates for them to present to their organization for upgrade of their cadre.

A member of the syndicate, Razak, a printer, has confessed to the ICPC operatives that he used someone else certificate which he scanned to perfect the forgery.

Other members of the syndicate include Matthias Ibitiye, Usman Danjuma, and Uchenna Ifeonu. The matter will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
