Rep. Darlington Nwokocha bags NCRIB Honourary fellowship award

Federal Lawmaker, Chairman House Committee on Insurance and Actuarial Matters and Member representing Isiala-Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency, Abia state was on Thursday May 20, 2021 conferred with the Honourary Fellowship (FCIB) of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) in Lagos, Nigeria.

In a statement by the NCRIB President/Chairman Governing Board, Dr. Mrs. Bola Onigbogi, FCIB, she described Hon. Darlington Nwokocha as a quintessential lawmaker whose demonstrable commitment in providing quality representation to his people has been phenomenal with sustainable results and whose pivotal support to professional bodies like NCRIB has been a major inspiration and source of encouragement in driving the vision of the council.

Change of Name

At the event, “fellows day/induction” in Lagos, the president of council, while calling on Brokers to imbibe strict adherence to broking ethical principles, further noted that Rep. Darlington Nwokocha was the first serving Nigerian Lawmaker to have been admitted to the Honourary Fellowship of Council following a painstaking track record of his legislative brilliance in championing people oriented laws, projects and other high impact legislative interventions that has bolstered the rights of the insuring public.

Responding, Hon. Darlington thanked the President, Governing Board and Management of the Council for finding him worthy to be amongst one of the very few Nigerians that has been admitted into the treasured Fellowship rank of the Council. The Isiala-Ngwa representative noted that insurance is a vital sector of the Nigerian economy with unique capacity to create jobs, provide value addition in the financial services sector and contribute significantly to the GDP. Hon. Darlington further stated that since he assumed the chairmanship of the house committee on insurance and actuarial matters, he has initiated far reaching legislative reforms that will reposition the insurance sector in Nigeria.


He pledged to remain committed towards supporting the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers to lead a professional council that enjoys the confidence of the investing/insuring public.

With the Fellowship awards, Hon. Darlington joins the league of other distinguished Nigerians including His Excellency, President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, former President, Federal Republic of Nigeria and His Excellency, Mr. Babjide Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor, Lagos State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Executive Governor, Enugu State, and Her Excellency, Sen, Oluremi Tinubu, former First Lady, Lagos State and distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria amongst others.
