Breaking: AIB get approval to probe NAF crash, recovers black box from accident scene
The Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria (AIB -N) jas disclosed on Saturday that it has gotten approval to investigate the ill-fated military place plane that killed Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru in Kaduna on Friday.
The agency said, Nigeria Airforce has given them approval to lead investigations.

Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 others on board were all killed.
AIB’s nod to investigate the crashed military plane was the first time as opposed to previous times when crashed Airforce plane is investigated by the Airforce themselves.
AIB, is an agency of government under the Federal Ministry of Aviation charged with the responsibility of investigating air accidents in Nigeria.
Repeated military plane accidents have raised concerns within the aviation experts who are advocating for inclusion of civil authorities in the investigation of accidents.
In a statement issued by the General Manager, Public Affairs of AIB, Tunji Oketunbi, said that the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) from the Beechcraft 350 aircraft have been recovered.
“Investigators will download and analyse vital information contained in the recorders at the AIB-N’s world class Flight Safety Laboratory, in Abuja,” Oketunbi said.
