Kaduna State governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai has vented his anger against Nigeria Governors Forum, which he is a member, saying they abandoned him when the Nigeria Labour Congress took a protest to his State.

El-Rufai spoke angrily during a virtual meeting of Governors Forum chaired by the governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi on Wednesday.

He lamented that a particular governor was funding activities of NLC against him, wondering how politics could be taken to that level.

CAPITAL POST earlier reported that Kaduna State Civil Servants and the Nigeria Labour Congress started a one week warning strike against the administration of Nasir El-Rufai to press home their demands.

NLC president, Ayuba Wabba leading the workers’ strike described El-Rufai as a tyrant.

“We are dealing with a tyrant, industrial action may be escalated.”

Wabba said they were protesting against El-Rufai’s administration for retrenchment of 45,000 workers and many of his anti-labour policies.

While accusing the governors, El-Rufai told the NGF meeting on Wednesday, that he did not get the required support from his colleagues.

When reminded of a statement issued by the Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum on Monday, El-Rufai said:

“I am a governor. I am one of you. The least I expect from the Nigeria Governors Forum is unequivocal and unqualified support. I didn’t see that in that statement.

“I am being very blunt. I could pretend and be political and just smile and say it was alright but it is not. But I am used to fighting my own battles.”
