Kaduna State workers under the umbrella of Nigeria Labour congress have suspended its scheduled one week strike after three days.

Reports reaching CAPITAL POST on Wednesday night indicated that the Federal Government has waded into the protest action that the National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Ayuba Wabba was personally leading the protest since Monday.

The economy of Kaduna Staye had been crippled since Monday when the strike action started.

However, on Tuesday, thugs believed to be loyal to the State government invaded the protesters that caused commotion.

On Wednesday, the NLC President disclosed that the decision to suspend the strike was to honour invitation of the Federal Government on Thursday to mediate in the dispute between labour and the Kaduna State Government.

The workers are demanding reinstatement of sacked workers and payments of benefits entitled to them, but the State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai insisted that the strike was illegal and he went ahead to declare the NLC leader wanted.

Reacting to the strike in a separate statement, former Senator representing Kaduna Senatorial district Shehu Sani urged Kaduna State government to address concerns of workers.

He faulted the governor for declaring the labour leader wanted, noting that protest anywhere in Nigeria has constitutional backings.

Sani also maintained that Kaduna workers have been subjected to untold hardship by the Nasir El-Rufai led administration to an extent that bandits are now better than Kaduna State Civil servants.
