Okorocha calls for change of tactics in tackling insecurity in Nigeria
The Senator representing Imo West Senatorial district in the red chamber, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has charged the APC-led government to change tactics in tackling security challenges bedeviling the nation.
He gave the charge in Abuja when he hosted physically challenged Nigerians who thronged his ‘Unity House’ office for the traditional Fast Breaking ceremony which the Rochas foundation has been holding since the commencement of the Ramadan month.
Okorocha said it was pertinent to rejig the process of curbing the insurgency in the land since ‘force’ was no longer effective.
His words: “I believe that Nigerian government must change its style, it appears that the old style of force and using of modern equipment to fight insurgency has not helped us, it is increasing rather in a geo-metrical progression, so government must change its style”.
“It is time to start making more of engagements and we should declare a “National Security Council” in the various rural areas.
“Let the people begin to engage themselves in finding solutions to this problem.
“You can’t solve a problem unless you know the causative; the cause of Nigeria’s problem deeply lies in the injustice and poverty, the earlier the government begins to address the issue of injustice the better for our country”.
“I will confidently say that over seventy five percent (75%) of Nigerians are not happy and there is no productive thing that can come out from them as long as the larger number of people are not happy”.
The physically challenged persons who thronged the Unity house to observe the breaking of fast, came from the outskirts of the capital city, from karma Jiji and Abaji to pay homage to Owelle Okorocha.
The event allowed Okorocha the opportunity to touch base with the group and hear directly from them.
