Gunmen on rampage in Rivers, killed seven policemen
Daredevil gunmen have killed seven policemen in an attack on police station and checkpoints on Friday night in Port-Harcourt.
Reports said two police officers were gunned down in Rumuji Police station in Emuoha Local Government Area of the state, burned the station, and some vehicles inside the facility were also set on fire.
Also Police station at Rumuji axis of the East-West Road came under attack by gunmen around 10 pm Friday where a patrol vehicle of the Police was set ablaze.
Rivers State security outfit called C-4-i along the East-West Road was also hit and three operatives of the outfit lost their lives.
The ttackers who were disguised in Police uniforms drove in a hilux van moved to a police checkpoint at Ogbakiri junction in the Emuoha LGA and killed two policemen and burnt theiefeared and a vehicle burnt.
The spokesman for the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the attack but said he would make details available after visiting the areas attacked.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday, has gone for an on-the-spot assessment of the incidents as of the time of filing this report.
