Nasarawa: Governor Sule assures timely completion of Akurba power projects

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State continue to monitor work progress at the ongoing Akurba electricity power substation with a view to ensure quick completion of the projects.

“We want you to double your efforts in competing this project our people are eager to have this work done. As government we will provide all what it takes for the success of the projects. He vowed.

Governor Sule who made this known on Tuesday when he paid unscheduled visit to the Power sub station at Akurba, Lafia described electricity as a major components of industrialization and employment keys of his administration.

He also explained at commissioning of 20km 33KVA electrification project recently in Giza Keana local government area the importance of electricity to the people of Nasarawa State.

“That much will be achieved in the area of industrialization, employment, among other mantra of the administration, without power supply.

He recalled that, on assumption of office, his administration entered into a contract with the people of the state, for the provision of infrastructure, employment opportunities, healthcare, water supply and electricity.

Our correspondent report that with the frequenting of project site, Governor, Sule kept to his word at ensuring things are done in such a way it supposed to be.

“As part of this administration’s commitment towards solving and putting an end to electricity supply problem in Nasarawa State, solid steps are being taken to ensure the completion of the 330KVA substation in Akurba for it to be put to use soon.

CAPITAL POST gathered that the 330KVA substation was a leftover project initiated by past administration of Senator Al-makura, and inherited by Sule which he took the bull by the horns by visiting major stakeholders with a view for the completion of the project and all assurances were offered that in the coming months, it will be completed.

“The Akurba power substation project is 100 percent complete as of now. What remains, is what they call the line-in, line-out, which the owners of the project assured me, will be completed in months. He commented.

“As I speak to you now already, equipment for the final phase of the project, have arrived the project site from Lagos, with 14 out of the 23, forty-foot containers now in Akurba.

CAPITAL POST revealed that if the project is completed, Lafia the administrative seat will enjoy two lines, one line will go to Doma, one line will take care of Assakio/Obi/Keana and one line will go to Akwanga.

As at the time of Governor Sule’s unscheduled visit he met all the engineers on site working on the last phase of the project called “ Line in, Line Out”. This is to allow them step down power from the grid

Two of the 6 phases have been casted with each requiring about two weeks to dry properly.
