Unknown gunmen killed Kogi Commissioner
Unknown gunmen on Saturday waylaid Hon. Solomon Adebayo and killed him in Kabba area in Kogi West Senatorial district while on his from Ilorin on Saturday evening.
Hon. Adebayo was the Commissioner for Pension in governor Yahaya Bello’s administration.
Confirming the development, Police Public Relations Officer, William Ayah explained to journalists that gunmen opened fire on Mr Adebayo’s vehicle along the road, killing him on the spot while severely wounding his driver.
Meanwhile, the Police authority in Kogi State has vowed investigation, saying perpetrators of the heinous act would be brought to justice.
It couldn’t be confirmed whether the arsonists took away some of the deceased belongings, but his shattered vehicle has been recovered.
The driver, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was taken to ECWA Hospital Egbe alongside others injured in the attack. The slain commissioner’s remains were also deposited here.
The killing of Adebayo, Akeweje of Eri Land in Kogi, was being mourned across the state as the news trickled out overnight.
