Notorious Zamfara bandit leader, Daudawa killed
The notorious bandit leader who abducted over 300 Government Science Secondary School students in Kankara, Katsina State has been killed, according to government sources on Friday.
On February 8, 2021, Daudawa who was an indigenes of Zamfara State laid down arms in agreement with Governor Bello Matawalle’s peace initiative.
Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs in Zamfara State, Abubakar Dauran told newsmen that the bandit leader left Gusau for forest to continue his banditry activities despite government’s effort in treating him well.
“A few days ago, Daudawa returned to the forest to continue his banditry activities”, the Commissioner said.
When he went back to the forest, he reportedly rustled about 100 cows and killed the herder.
“He told some persons close to him that he was going to attend one of his relatives’ wedding only for him to return to the forest.
In retaliation, some people around the area organised and killed him too.
Daudawa had surrendered 20 AK-47 rifles, 20 Magazines, one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), one Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) and several ammunitions to the Zamfara State government on the day he repented with five of his gang members.
Earlier the news of his return sent jitters down the spine of residents in Gusau and Zamfara communities.
