NCAA will safeguard skilled manpower in aviation industry – DG
In order to boost confidence and ensure safety of the flying public, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) will safeguard skilled manpower in the aviation industry, Director- General, Capt. Musa Nuhu has said.
Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja, he said of the effort to deepen activities of aviation industry, safeguarding of skilled manpower was sustained, the public will be comfortable flying the airspace.
As a regulatory body, he said, NCAA will improve on infrastructural development at the airports as well as installation of navigational facilities, particularly the weather forecast equipment.
“Our mission is to provide aviation safety and economic regulation in the most efficient, effective, quality and technology driven manner to the satisfaction and benefit of all the stakeholders, consistent with the highest international standers.
“NCAA is ready for the sustainable development of the industry and national economy,” he said.
The DG revealed that new applications were being
worked upon for some airlines, even as he added that about sixa new airlines will soon come on fleet in order to heighten the capacity of the aviation sector.
“There are quite a few airlines coming up. About two or three to start operating this year. The rest will start next year,” he said.
Nuhu called stakehders to work together to further design strategies towards best practice to grow the industry to the level of global best practices.
“For the airlines, we provide `Ultimate Means of Compliance“ for them to keep fly and to avoid spending huge among of money to send the aircraft and people for training.
“That on its own was in form of palliative from NCAA to all local airline operators to save their money,” it said.
