Senator representing Niger East Senatorial district, Mohammed Sani Musa has ruled out an option of booting President Muhammadu Buhari out of office over his incompetence in securing the country.

He said Nigeria’s security crisis was already at its peak, saying that security of lives and properties is a constitutional responsibility of government, but as it were, there would be further crises if President Muhammadu Buhari was impeached.

Musa was reacting to questions why Buhari hasn’t been impeached over his incompetence, while addressing journalists at the National Assembly, Abuja on Tuesday, April 27. According to him, “this is not the time for a motion seeking the impeachment of President Buhari” .

When asked why he and his colleagues have not moved to remove the President from office following the alarming rate of insecurity in the country, Musa said; “You and I know what impeachment is all about. It’s another crisis into another crisis. Why do we need that now? What we need is solution. We need this country to come back to where we were in terms of peace. I will rather prefer a situation where all the operations of government is directed at security.

Anything we are going to do in this country, should be towards tackling insecurity. We are not safe. No leader, from councillor to the president, that will sleep with two eyes closed.

I do not subscribe to a situation whereby, because we have the legislative powers to impeach, that we are bringing a motion for impeachment. This is not the time for a motion on impeachment.”

In the similar development Senator Sani Musa has condemned the attack on another military camp in the Shiroro Local Government Area in Niger State, describing it as a declaration of war against unarmed people.

While condemning the attack, Senator Sani Musa accused the government of doing little or nothing to stop the escalating bandits’ attacks in the state, especially in his constituency, saying that the people have been left at the mercy of armed bandits.

He said the security situation has been made worse following the closure and the subsequent withdrawal of both the military and the police from their bases in aftermath of attacks on their camp the bandits.

“I have had reasons to call on the federal government to address the issue of insecurity in my constituency, the Niger East Senatorial zone of Niger state but either by commission or omission no serious efforts has been made to bring the situation to normal.

“In fact the insecurity situation in the zone especially in Rafi, Shiroro, Munya LGA has continued to to get worse with villagers ( my constituents) being killed, maimed daily and their property dispossessed daily.”
