Nasarawa governor commissions electricity to boost power supply

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has described electricity as a major component in the industrialization and employment keys of his administration.

He made this known during the commissioning of 20km 33KVA electrification project put together by the Chairman of Keana Local Government Area, Hon. Adamu Adi in Giza, his home town.

Governor Sule acknowledged that not much will be achieved in the area of industrialization, employment, among other mantra of the administration, without power supply.

He reaffirmed that, on assumption of office, his administration entered into a contract with the people of the state for the provision of infrastructure, employment opportunities, healthcare, water supply and electricity.

“Let me say categorically clear that with the 20km electricity project in Giza, it is in line with the policy of the State government.

Governor Sule further explained that as part of his administration’s commitment to electricity, supply problem will soon be over in the state as solid steps are being taken to ensure the completion of the 330KVA substation in Akurba is put to use soon.

“Though I inherited the electricity project from my predecessor, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-makura, I have taken the bull by the horns by visiting major stakeholders with a view for the completion of the project and all assurances were given that in the coming months, it will be done and dusted. He said.

“The Akurba power substation project is 100 percent complete as of now. What remains, is what they call the line-in, line-out, which the owners of the project assured me, will be completed in months.

“As I speak to you now already, equipment for the final phase of the project, have arrived the project site from Lagos with 14 out of the 23, forty-foot containers now in Akurba.

“Two lines will be dedicated to Lafia, one line will go to Doma, one line will take care of Assakio/Obi/Keana, one line will go to Akwanga,” the governor said.

He also disclosed that his administration is working on the generation of hydroelectric power in Farin Ruwa, Wamba Local Government Area.

Governor Sule showed encomiums on the Council Chairman, Hon. Adamu Adi for executing N150 million electrification project despite economic challenges at the local government level.

“Let me commend you specifically, the Chairman of Keana Local Government Area, for your vision, determination and effort, because this is perfectly in line with the vision of our administration,” the governor said.

Earlier, the Keana Local Government Area Chairman, Hon. Giza, scored developmental roadmap of Governor Sule led administration, reference to provision of infrastructure, roads, electricity, water supply, among others, across the 13 local government areas of the State.

He said it’s for this reason, that inspite of the economic challenges posed by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in dwindling resources at the Council, he decided to embark on the project not only to bring succour to the people of the area, but to also emulate the giant strides of the governor.
