Niger Police parades car thieves, serial rapist in Minna

The Niger State Police command has arrested Nine armed robbery suspects allegedly terrorising residents of Minna and Bida in recent times.

The notorious armed robbery suspects were said to have been attacking residents of Nitecco, Farm centre and Tunga all in Minna the State capital.

CAPITAL POST gathered that the suspects have during operations have so far dispossesed residents of their valuables which includes six vehicles.

Addressing newsmen at a in Minna, the State Commissioner of police Mr. Adamu Usman explained that the command upon the receipt of the information on the activities of suspects, his men swiftly swung into action and arrested nine of the suspects in Minna, Bida, Abuja and Sokoto State.

The Commissioner of Police who spoke through the Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Wasiu Abiodun DSP, stated that the suspects had during interrogations confessed to have actively participated in series of robbery activities in Minna and its environs in recent times.

Among those in Police net, according to the command spokeman, include Abdul Mohammed, Ana’s Oyerinde, Yahaya Jibrin and Abubakar Sadiq.

While he disclosed that Mohammed Abdullahi, Chibuzor Benard , Mohammed Usman and Abdulrahaman Ali were receivers and transporters of the vehicles.

Also one William Godwin was arrested with a revolver pistol which he claimed to have been given to him by Mohammed Abdullahi and Mohammed Usman. He said during further investigation, two Toyota Corolla vehicles, a Toyota Camry vehicle, one pantiac vibe, one Toyota venza vehicle, one locally made revolver pistol, one live ammunition of Ak47 rifle two empty shell of Ak47 rifle ammunition were recovered.

Also Police in Kafin-koro divisional command arrested a 40 years old Festus Okeke of Ishau village for allegedly having lured four girls in to his shop and have canal knowledge with two of the girls while he fiddled with private parts of two other girls with his fingers.

According to the Police spokeman, the victims were between the ages of 10 to 13 years while the suspect mostly lured the children with an amount of two hundred naira (N200) and loaves of bread, “before engaging them in such act of gross indecency with his victims”.

Similarly, Wasiu told journalists that records have it that the same Festus Okeke was on the 4th of October 2019, arrested for the same offence with two minors from the same village and was charged to chief Magistrate Court No.1 in Minna for prosecution.
This makes him a habitual and serial rapist of minors.”

During interrogation, the suspect claimed to have given the girls the loaves of bread and the sum N200 for Easter celebration. “However, case is under investigation after which he will be charged to court for prosecution.”
