Attack on Soludo: Anambra governor, Obiano reveals plan for arrested 9 attackers

Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano has disclosed that nine criminals involved in attack on the former Central Bank governor, Prof. Charles Soludo have been arrested.

He said all those arrested in connection with the attack will soon be executed.

He gave the disclosure at the Prof Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre in Awka, the State capital on Wednesday.

Soludo, a leading governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance came under heavy attack by the gunmen while holding a town hall meeting with the youths at Isuofia sometime in March.

The attack led to the killing of his three police orderlies, while several other participants in the meeting sustained various degrees of injuries, but Soludo escaped unhurt.

The State’s Commissioner for Public Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, was kidnapped from the scene, but was released few days after.

Governor Obiano spoke at the public presentation of his “Governor Willie Obiano: 7 years of delivering good governance in Anambra State” written by about ten persons, including Dr Emeka Arinze.

The governor said, “What happened last month was unfortunate, but let me tell you, we have restrategised and we are coming out like a smoking gun.

“We are not going to take prisoners. The nine people that attacked Prof Soludo are in our net now. We are going to eliminate them. We will go after the others.

The governor maintained that a special squad has been assembled in the State, who are working round the clock to ensure security of lives and properties, adding that they wouldn’t take prisoners anymore.

The governor, on the occasion, was flanked by all the service heads in the State, including the Army, Police, Navy, Civil Defence and others.
