Gbajabiamila blocks ‘sack Pantami’ point of order during plenary
Attempt by the Minority leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu on Wednesday to sponsor a motion demanding for resignation or sacking of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami was block by the Speaker.
Pantami has been heavily criticised by Nigerians for
once backing activities of Jihadist leaders and deadly Islamic sects.
He preaching back 2000s have been uploaded where it was glaring that he once supported Al-Qaeda and Taliban, two most deadliest terrorists in the world.
Nigerians have been calling for his resignation or get sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari.
House Minority leader, Elumelu raised a point of order asking for resignation of the Minister or get sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari at Wednesday’s plenary.
Before members get to make contributions, Speaker Gemi Gbajabiamila overruled his point of Order, stating that Elumelu was not acting within his parliamentary privilesge.
“Your point of order is noted,” Gbajabiamila said and hit the gavel.
The plenary has since moved to other items on the House’ agenda.
Meanwhile, the embattled Minister of Communications and Digital Economy participated in Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting.
Also, in a press interview with the State House correspondence after FEC meeting, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Lai Mohammed when asked said, Pantami’s matter was not discussed.
