Breaking: Former Zamfara governor, Yari arrested
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested the former governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari.
Yari was arrested after months of trailing and surveillance, but honoured the EFCC invitation in Sokoto zonal office on Tuesday before he was arrested.
Source said, the former governor was immediately detained by operatives of the EFCC and was expected to face interrogations.
The former governor is said to have been held at the Sokoto office of the anti-graft agency for eight hours as of the time of filing this report.
Yari has spent close to eight hours in the EFCC detention now having honoured the invitation at the Sokoto office at about 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
He may have been bailed after long hours in detention, but someone close to him maintained that the former governor was yet to meet bail conditions, hence he is likely to spend days.
