Nasarawa governor, Sule reiterates commitment to community policing to rid State of criminals
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment towards ensuring security stabilization in the state.
He made the statement while addressing members of special police constabulary and payment of their salaries in the State.
“My administration will fully support the Community policing initiative as to ensure security of lives and properties of our people.
Governor Sule is optimistic that collectively people of the state can be secured.
He told the police constabulary that this could only be achieved if they proved to the outside world that they were trained as officers and working as officers.
“If you are gathering information as required and passing the information to the right people that are supposed to be there please don’t cross your post line to another place. Sule pleads with the officers.
He also warned them not to use their position to start collecting bribe from people, “If you do that, you are spoiling your name, spoiling the name of police and by the time you are to join the real police they will not accept you.
“It is very important to start from where you all started and if you do well it will give us the opportunity to make sure we bring more because our plan is to bring 3-4 size of this number and give been employment to our people.
Governor Sule, said government can only do that by trial and you know the trial so, I want you to take it as challenge that you make it or destroy the whole process.
“In some states they believed this Community Policing thing is a joke it won’t work please I want you to make it work in Nasarawa state all the training and information that is required, I want you to make us more secured.
He apologize to them for not receiving their salaries as at when due, Sule attributed the delayed on misunderstanding on who is responsible for the payment when it started that there was an information that police headquarters are to pay them the salaries based on this information from the state arrangements was not made.
“It was only last week infact you have one of your salary already approved and was waiting at SSG office to be paid to you because they are thinking your payment will come from the police headquarters in Abuja.
“The moment we got the information now that you are not going to be paid that we supposed to pay you, today you will at least receive 2 months salaries immediately.
The governor also told them that by the end of April, the constabularies will get the balance of their salaries to enable them do their works.
