Nigerians should commend Buhari for tolerating rubbish – Masari
Nigerians have been asked to commend President Muhammadu Buhari for tolerating rubbish from some of them.
Katsina State governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari stated this on TVC, a national television interview on Sunday, stating that contrary to critical views in some quarters that President Muhammadu Buhari has failed Nigerians, he said Buhari hasn’t and should be commended for tolerating “rubbish from some people.”
He said those down rating Buhari’s administration should wait for election time, insisting that the administration has not failed.
“I don’t think Buhari has failed us, I think he has tolerated us.”
Masari said Nigeria had a civilian president before who was intolerant, while he expressed surprise that Buhari tolerates all manner of things from people.
“Protests are necessary in a democracy. Even in the best democracy in the world, people protest. The fact that we have democracy does not mean that people should not complain or protest.
According to him, the All Progressives Congress is “the strongest, most reliable, and dependable party in Nigeria today.”
Speaking on his dialogue with bandits, he explained that his administration’s dialogue with bandits failed because the criminals were not organised under a known leadership which made it difficult for his government to know who to deal with.
The governor said: “I started the idea of dialogue with bandits way back in 2016 in collaboration with the heads of security agencies and we visited areas where the bandits were in charge.
“Some of them laid down their arms but the agitation continues and it escalated last year with the kidnap of the Kankara boys.
“The previous dialogue failed because the bandits are not under an organised leadership or umbrella. They are in various groups and categories.”
