Breaking: Murdered soldiers for burial today
Soldiers who were murdered in Konshisha in Benue State by Bonta militia group will be buried today.
The 12 remains of the soldiers have arrived the Military cemetery in Wurukum Makurdi, Benue-State capital for burial.
Among the slain 12 soldiers was a captain who were ambushed at Bonta last Monday and killed by the militia group.
At time of filling this report, the state Governor, Samuel Ortom, top government officials as well as military top bras have arrived the venue waiting for the commencement of the burial rites.
Meanwhile, Benue governor, Ortom has sympathised with families of slain soldiers.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Terver Akase in Makurdi on Monday, the State Governor, has expressed deep sympathies with bereaved families of soldiers who lost their lives during a peace keeping mission in Konshisha Local Government Area of the state.
He also expressed condolences with President Muhammadu Buhari, Chief of Army Staff and the entire leadership of the Armed Forces over the death of the soldiers, describing the incident as unfortunate.
While condemning the unwarranted attack and killing of the gallant soldiers, the Governor noted that an attack on security agents is an attack on the entire country, stressing that his administration would collaborate with relevant authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.
The Governor pledged his administration’s support for the bereaved families to enable them overcome the difficult moment.
He prayed God to grant the deceased soldiers eternal rest.
