Muslims told to look out for Ramadan moon from Monday
Muslim faithful across the country have been called upon to look out for Ramadan moon to begin their much expected fasting.
In a statement addressed to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Sokoto State Chapter by Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, Chairman, Advisory Committee, Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto, stated that whoever sight the new moon should report to the nearest district head for onward transmission to the appropriate quarters.
Part of the statement which was obtained by CAPITAL POST on Sunday read:
“This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that Monday, 12th April, 2021, which is equivalent to 29th day of Sha’aban 1442AH shall be the day to look for new moon of Ramadan 1442AH.
“Muslims are therefore requested to look for the new moon of Ramadan 1442AH on Monday and report its sighting to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to His Eminence, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad Abubakar III”, the statement concluded.
