IPOB’s militia attacks: Uzodinma tells Security operatives to defend themselves
Uzodinma’s charge on Tuesday was at the backdrop of attacks against security operatives guarding public infrastructure by the proscribed IPOB’s militia wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN).
The governor spoke at the Police Command headquarters, when the former Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, visited the state to assess the level of damage done on the police facility by unknown gunmen on Monday.
But hours after the attack that freed over 1,500 prison inmates, the former IGP confirmed to the media that the attack was carried out by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra.
The governor said Security operatives have right of defense with their rifles, stating that attack on security formations is an embarrassment to the government.
The governor said, “If you can’t attack them, you can at least use your rifles to defend yourselves. Any attack on police formation is an insult to us as a government. It is also an attack on the integrity of the government. We must take charge, take control and ensure discipline.”
