Breaking: NAF fighter jet: Boko Haram claims it blows plane from air, releases footage
Boko Haram fighters have announced it shot the Nigeria Air Force fighter jet bombing them with RPG weapon on Wednesday.
Recall that on Wednesday at about 5.00pm, Nigeria Airforce confirmed that one of its jet battling the Boko Haram insurgents has lost contact with its radar suggesting that it has gone gone missing.
But on Friday, Shekau’s faction of Boko Haram, has claimed responsibility for the shooting down of the Nigerian Air Force Alpha Jet.
The insurgents also released the image of the jet wreacks and dead bodies of the two pilots.
It will be recalled that there have been an intense search and rescue since two days ago for the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, Alpha Jet involved in the anti-terror war against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province.
The military authority was yet to establish what happened since Wednesday until Shekau’s Boko Haram released a footage claiming to show how it shot down Nigeria’s missing jet.
The photos also showed how what appears to be an anti-aircraft weapon brought down a flying jet.
It was further revealed that the Boko Haram fighters carried RPG and artillery equipment, as well as a corpse of the pilot and the aircraft’s debris.
The pilots onboard the fighter jet are Flight Lieutenant John Abolarinwa and Flight Lieutenant Ebiakpo Chapele.
