The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Financial Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Hussain Maibasira has reacted to the suspension slammed against him by the Executive Committee of his ward.

He said, the Executive and stakeholders of his ward, Tudu Wada South in Niger State lack powers to suspend him, explaining that, it could happen within Chapter 10, Section 57(7) of the party’s constitution as amended.

In a statement which was made available to CAPITAL POST on Tuesday by his Media Aide, Saidu Salihu Makun, it advised members of PDP to be guided by the party’s constitution to avoid unnecessary crisis in the party ahead of 2023 general election.

The statement said: “The attention of the media office of the National Financial Secretary (NFS) of Peoples Democratic Party has been informed of a deliberate attempt to instigate some members and officials of the party at the ward/local level to allegedly take a disciplinary course of action against the NFS on imaginary, fictitious and highly unfounded claims.

“First, we consider these efforts as an excercise in futility, broad day fake news and a clear attempt to engage and draw the NFS into an unnecessary debate.

“Second, we are constrained to remind members/officials of the provisions of Chapter 10, Section 57 (7) of the PDP Constitution as amendment.

“For clarity and avoidance of doubt, that section reads “Notwithstanding any other provision relating to discipline, no Executive Committee at any level, except the National Executive Committee, shall entertain any question of discipline as may relate or concern a member of the National Executive Committee, Deputy Governors or members of the National Assembly”.

“Clearly, no organ apart from the NEC can entertain any allegations against a NEC member.

“Third, the NFS has, and would certainly restrain himself from this deliberate attempt to link him, join issues with him or draw him into the arena of an already charged political environment.

“We take forearm from the words of the Holy scripture that “It is the same for them, whether you warn them, or do not warn them – they would not believe” (Q36:10).

“We appeal to all members of the party to be guided by the letters of the constitution of the PDP in handling party affairs and not allow themselves to be misguided and misled. We urge decorum and restraint.”
