Aba North/South by-election: PDP defeats APC, others
The Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for Aba North/South Federal Constituency by-election, Chimaobi Ebisike has been declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).
Disclosing the figures, Returning officer said, PDP candidate polled 10,322 to defeat APC’s Mascot Kalu who polled 3,674 votes.
The result which was announced at Constitution Crescent Primary school collation Centre, Aba, by Professor Fidelis Okpata of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike, Ebonyi State, further revealed that the All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate, Destiny polled 1, 554, while Okey Prestige of the Action Alliance candidate, AA, scored 199 votes.
Candidates of the APM and NRM scored 10 and 13 votes, respectively.
Voter apathy was recorded in all the 24 wards of the Federal constituency.
There was kidnap of the collation officer for APC in Aba North, Engr. Mike Ozoemena and there was also explosion at the Umuola Hall, ward 8, Aba North council.
Apart from the two challenges, the election was peaceful as electoral materials arrived as early as 8.30am in most polling units.
