Road projects: Ikpeazu knocks Kalu, says lawmaker yet to come out of ‘Kuje prison incarceration’

The Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate and Senator representing Abia North came under heavy criticism by Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu on Sunday for claiming that road projects in the State were funded by the Federal Government.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Onyebuchi Ememanka, in a statement made available to journalists accused Kalu of distorting facts for cheap political blackmail.

The governor reacted to the lawmaker’s claims who was campaigning for his younger brother, Mascot Kalu ahead of Saturday’s by-election into Aba North/South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The statement noted that falsehood has been Orji Uzor Kalu’s stock in trade, insisting that the projects are State funded.

The statement obtained by CAPITAL POST reads: “Our attention has been drawn to comments made yesterday by former Governor of Abia State and Senate Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu wherein he alluded that the ongoing massive infrastructural projects in Aba are funded by the Federal Government.

“I had to endure the extremely harrowing experience of watching the video of his outing yesterday just to enable me to confirm if indeed, the Senator made such statements.

The statement reminded Kalu that he was free to campaign and pursue whatever he desire, but he wasn’t to peddle falsehood.

“To suggest, like the Senator did yesterday, that the road projects in Aba are funded by the Federal Government through his intervention is a clear pointer that something is wrong with the former Governor.

“It is either that he is yet to fully recover from the effects of his several months of incarceration at the Kuje prisons or he is just plain ignorant. Either way, the conclusion that all is not well with him is irresistible.
