Governor Bagudu excited at press club, school garden

Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, was fascinated by the curiosity and educational quest of students of Dr. Amina Abubakar Girls’ College, Birnin Kebbi, who engaged in extra-curricular activities.

The Governor who paid an unscheduled project inspection visit to the school at the weekend, was delighted to see students taking part in Press Club activities and Gardening within its premises.

Bagudu, accompanied by the Special Adviser on Power, Alhaji Yusuf Haruna Rasheed and the Chairman of the Direct Labour Agency, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Dantani ( Magajin Rafin Kabi), went round to inspect the ongoing infrastructural projects embarked upon by the State Government in the school.

In the course of the inspection, the Governor came across the first set of students in the school farm watering some of planted crops in the farm.

Bagudu also delightedly went round the school farm, to see the crops planted by the students and was visibly elated.

One of the students, Amina Bello, said that, the students water the plants in the farm in the evening, daily and routinely weed the farm.

According to her, crops such as Lemon, Mangoe, Banana,Water melon, Cassava and Moringa, were some of the available plants being nurtured by the students in the school farm .

Similarly, the Governor met the members of the Press Club rehearsing, under the supervision of their Teacher.

He interestingly watched and listened to them, with full admiration, while encouraging them to continue to study hard and achieve their lofty dreams .

Some of the projects inspected by the Governor in the school included the ongoing construction of staff quarters, students’ hostel, laboratories, toilets, kitchen and perimeter fencing.

The Governor further expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of the work .

The Principal of the School, Hajiya Salamatu BalaTafida and the teachers, expressed happiness with the regular visit of the Governor, as well as for the interest he has demonstrated in enhancing girl child education in the state.

It will be recalled that, some Secondary Schools in the state, especially Girls’ Colleges like those of Kangiwa and Birnin Kebbi, had either been renovated or additional structures, with learning materials put in place, to encourage igirls enrollment, retention and completion of their studies.
