One dead, property worth millions of naira destroyed in heavy rainstorm in Kogi
The first major rain on Tuesday claimed one life who was identified as Ogwu, a roasted fish seller in Gadumo Area of Lokoja, Kogi State capital.
The deceased was hit on the head from a broken tree as a result of violent wind and bled to death before he could be rushed to the hospital.
The storm, which was the heaviest of its kind in Kogi this year, destroyed properties worth million of naira in Lokoja.
CAPITAL POST correspondent who went round the state witnessed houses which roofs were brought down as well as parameter fencing of some homes.
A resident who spoke on the situation lamented that such rainstorm shouldn’t happen again, while revealing that the deceased hailed from Kogi East Senatorial and had been into roasted fish for quite some time now.
The late Ogwu had been buried according to Islamic rites in his hometown.
