PTA Chairman appeals for protection of Schools in Niger State

A passionate appeal has been made to the Minister of education, Mallam Adamu Adamu to prevail on the President Mohammed Buhari to deploy enough security to the Federal goverment’s own Colleges across the country to ensure the safety of the students.

The Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA), of Federal Science and Technical College, Shiroro, Kuta in Niger State, Alh Dauda Ibrahim Wasa made the appeal in a press release made available to newsmen in Minna, noted that the increasing rate of insecurity in some of the Northern states is worrisome.

He said the deployment of combined team of security agents across the Unity Schools particularly in the security prone areas will serve as a confidence building to the students and the staff, stressing the need for the Minister to as a matter of necessity prevail on the President to ensure the safety of the students.

Alhaji Dauda Ibrahim pointed out that activities of armed bandits in some parts of Niger and Zamfara States have taken a fearful dimension with the recent abduction of students of Goverment Science College in Kagara and Goverment Girls Secondary School in Jangebe in Zamfara state.

According to the chairman, fortifying security around the unity schools within the bandits prone areas will further encourage the students and their teachers to put in their interest in their studies and their work stressing the need for an urgent step to be taken towards drafting combined team of security agency to ensure the safety of the students and their teachers.

Equally , the PTA Chairman appealled to the state governors of the affected states to complement effort of the federal government by ensuring the security of Federal Government’s own unity schools in their respective states, explaing that it will further instil fear into the armed bandits.

He decried the increasing proportion of armed bandits attacks on boarding schools in some part of the North describing the trends as alarming which according to him would not augur well to the socio economy and educational development of the North.

While commending the Federal ministry of education and the federal Ministry of Science for taken proactive measure towards closing the schools, he then implored the both Ministers to see reasons to sought for an alternative means of ensuring the security of the schools to safeguard the students and their teachers.
