Zamfara: Fresh attack leaves scores dead
Fresh attacks on Zamfara villages on Friday by bandits have left scores dead and several others wounded.
Bandits attacked two Local Governments in the State which was confirmed by the Press Secretary to the governor, Jamilu Magaji.
In a statement by the State governor, Bello Matawalle through his Press Secretary, the governor disclosed that the villages are: Damaga, Jihiya, Shandame, Gidan Runji and Daki Hudu all in Maradun LGA.
While the sixth village attacked was Kizara in Tsafe LGA.
According to the statement made available to journalists in Gusau, Magaji said Governor Bello Matawalle had to cut short his visit to Sokoto to attend to the new tragedy on Friday.
The governor condemned the attacks in strong terms while he visited Maradun town to sympathise and condole with the families of those who died as a result of the attacks.
Matawalle directed security agencies in the state to evolve better ways of curtailing bandits in the state, saying that the situation cannot continue under his leadership.
Also he has directed a delegation led by the Deputy governor, Mahadi Gusau, to Tsafe to sympathise with the victims of the attack in Kizara village.
