Insecurity: Yoruba group raises alarm, alledges terrorists’ plan to blow schools in South West

A group, under the aegis of Apapo Oodua Koya, on Thursday raised the alarm that plans are afoot by terrorists to blow some schools in South West region of the country.

They advised governors of Ogun, Oyo and Ondo states to put security machineries on alert against attack and kidnapping of school children in the region.

But the Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, assured the people that governors have enough security measures in place to tackle insecurity in South West States.

The Yoruba group, in a letter to the governors by the leader, Ahmed Akorede stated that they have credible information that the armed terrorists in Ogun, Oyo and Ondo forests are alledgedly targeting primary and secondary schools to attack and kidnap pupils.

The statement reads: “They are gradually building armed fortresses. The groups are coordinated and linked with the kidnappers in Niger, Zamfara and Kaduna States.

“We got the information through credible intelligence. We can tap some of the communication of the insurgents usually rendered in Fulfulde.

“They are planning to kidnap school children in large numbers in any or all of the states mentioned above.

“They are currently located at Yewa in Ogun State; they are in Oke-Ogun in Oyo and Idanre-Ondo town axis in Ondo State.

The group said, it took upon itself to reveal their plans in order to nip in the bud.
