Rector escaped by whiskers as protest rocks IMAPOLY in Lafia
Students of Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic Lafia staged a massive protest as a result of increase in registration fee of the institution.
The aggrieved students went on rampage, burning and destroyed facilities in the school in further protest of how the female Rector, Dr. Justina Kotso is handling the institution.
Some students of the Institution who spoke to our correspondent said rhe Rector is not comletemt to lead the school.
CAPITAL POST reports that, Justina Kotso directed the closure of the school portal even when majority of students were yet to complete their registration.
The Rector as at press time did not respond to calls or text messages sent to her by our correspondent.
Source confirmed that the Rector escaped narrowly through one of the nearby bush leading to Akurba and Kurukyo community seeking for refuge.
Another student explained that what they demand is the re-opening of the school portal to enable them complete their registration exercise.
Our correspondent who monitored the incident observed that the crisis manifested following self decision being taken by the Rector against all other decisions of management without mindful of the consequences such decision may cost the institution.
Investigation confirmed that unguarded utterances made by the Rector triggered students into the protests which had never happened in the history of IMAPOLY since it was established in 2000.
Some indigenes have called on Governor Abdullahi Sule to as matter of urgency suspend the management and council of the institution for lack of leadership quality.
The destruction of property includes the school main gate, part of ICT centre, glass of the Administrative block, amongst other valuables.
It took the intervention of Army and armed Police to quell the situation.
