IWD: Family Support Initiative partners other NGOs, take sensitization to Nasarawa community

As world the celebrates international Women’s Day (IWD) with the theme: #ChooseToChallenge”, Family support Initiative in collaboration with 3 other NGOs took campaign against gender bias to Keana Local Government Area, Nasarawa state.

Speaking differently, founders of Source of Hope Foundation, Mrs. Asibi Ogabo Omeri, Chief Executive Officer of Inner Glow Foundation, Maryam Muhammad as well as Executive Director Gammnu Center for Care Development, Nigeria, Buveh Tulari unanimously agreed that, “We can all choose to challenge and cut out gender bias and inequality.”

“We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.” They said.

CAPITAL POST reports that the choice of Keana Local Government as venue of this year’s celebration was in line with the organisations’ frantic efforts to sensitize women of the locality on danger posed by superfluous raping of not only girls child, but child abuse which became a calamity befallen the society.

“We envision a world of positive and healthy relationships, devoid of violence, abuse, and oppression.

While given out their mission, the heads of amalgamated NGOs in the state vowed more support for the preservation of the safety, security, and dignity of an abused person in any intimate relationship, just as they to help the abused person restore self-dignity and take their power back.

They also stated that they are working round the clock with a view to identify all shades of intimate partner violence/domestic violence, relationship abuse and oppression and their constantly evolving impacts on men, women and children.

“It is our belief in diversity and fair access to services by all relationship abuse person(s) irrespective of gender, age, religion, or ethnic biases.

“Just as pronounced in their respect on inherent strengths and self-determination of victims and survivors of relationship abuse.

“We lead in partnership with victims and survivors, heeding their experiences, and amplifying their voices. They added.

“The organization come to terms that they we uphold advocacy and social change as essential ingredients to advancing aims and objectives above all act honestly and fairly, even in the face of adversity and provocation.

Some women who spoke to our correspondent during the sensitization visit commended NGOs for their awareness campaign. They promised to act or report any case of rape and other child abuse to the relevant authority.

They also decried being used and dump by their opposite folk during and after elections.

“We equally want to applealed to you to create an avenue for us to engage ourselves in a meaningful ventures that will fetch us or boost our economy status.”
