Worried by the spike in attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, Nigeria’s House of Representatives on Wednesday in an adopted resolution urged President Muhamadu Buhari to get foreign mercenaries to tackle the insurgents.

The resolution followed a motion sponsored by Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis who expressed concern that the spate of attacks in Borno State, North East, Nigeria by the terrorists in recent times seems not to be abating despite efforts of security agents.

In the amendment to the, prayers, Mansur Sorro from Bauchi State urged the federal government to adopt the use of foreign fighters.

CAPITAL POST had recalled that Borno State governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum told the Federal Government to consider foreign mercenaries option if it really to end insurgency and banditry in Nigeria.

On two cassions, had Zulum of Borno State called on Government to use foreign mercenaries.
The governor raised the issue just last week during the NorthEast governors forum.

However, President Muhamadu Buhari as an opposition figure in 2014 kicked against the policy, which was in play by the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

The House has now joined Governor Zulum to urge the President to reconsider the option of foreign paid fighters.

Moving the motion, Rahis, reminded the House of the 23rd of February attack by the insurgents that claimed 16 lives and left 60 injured.

“The attack was one of the most daring as the terrorists indiscriminately launched rockets into the city which inflicted mass destruction on the populace,” he said.
