Deputy Speaker hails Buhari’s approval of Wase- Langtan bridge contract
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the award of contract for the construction of the bridge along Langtang-Wase Road in Plateau state.
The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved the construction of the 4×20 meter span bridge at kilometer 18,
for N2.867 billion.
The contract was awarded to Metropolitan Construction Nigeria Limited.
Recall that last year, the bridge collapsed as a result of heavy flooding in the Langtang-Wase area, thereby cutting off the two communities after which the government provided remedial crossing means for the communities.
The project at the time was initiated and sponsored by the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Ahmed Idris Wase
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Umar Muhammad Puma, Wase said the bridge, when completed, would bring relief to Wase and other good people of Wase and Lagtan local government areas of Plateau.
“On behalf of the people of Plateau State, I wish to sincerely thank His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for awarding the contract. We are indeed grateful,” he said.
The Deputy Speaker noted that the bridge usher in a significant reduction in travel time on the route and will also be beneficial in bringing down cost of goods, transportation and of doing business in the affected areas.
