Senator Abbo sinks deeper as major supporters shift, discusses critical issues with governor Fintiri
Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial district, Ishaku Elisha Abbo may be in bigger trouble, as his political career keep sinking since his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This time in Yola, Adamawa State capital, the lawmaker who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in 2019, but defected to the All Progressives Congress recently suffered a major blow as his supporters openly shifted loyalty to Governor Ahmadu Umar Fintiri.
Abbo, a sworn critic of the governor has been noisome about defeating Ahmadu Fintiri in 2023 using the APC platform.
Abbo’s supporters told Fiintiri on Friday that they were dazed by his performance in office, particularly in the area of infrastructural development, adding that Adamawa was fast becoming one of the best State in Nigeria.
The delegation, led by Abbo support group’s former Coordinator, Peter Ishaya Kwache, thronged the Government House, Yola, the state capital, where they collectively expressed their “complete shift of loyalty” to the Fintiri-led administration.
Mr Kwache who spoke on behalf of the group said they were bonafide members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of all candidates of the party in the 2019 general election but had been led astray by Senator Abbo.
He pointed out that the Senator whom they had served and were loyal to never told them the reason for the political rift between him and the Governor and therefore decided to follow the bandwagon of the Governor against the “baseless criticisms” by Abbo.
While enumerating successes so far recorded by the Fintiri administration, Kwache assured the Governor of the group’s support to the administration, urging all peace-loving people of the state to rally round the Governor.
An elder within the group also stated that the group has been the tentacles of Senator Abbo but believed that personal interest should be set aside as the state is fast changing under Fintiri’s leadership.
Responding, Governor Fintiri said conflict is common in politics but with purposeful leadership time heals all wounds.
He said his administration would continue to be fair to all people and will do all within its disposal to make Adamawa State great, while calling on R-PDP members to join him in moving the State forward.
