Controversial preaching: Kano government bans Islamic Cleric, Abduljabar Nasiru Kabara

Kano State government has banned an Islamic Cleric based in the State, Abduljabar Nasiru Kabara from preaching for distorting his teachings about Quran.

The controversial cleric came to limelight due to his misinterpretation of some prophetic sayings, ‘hadith’ to the extent of questioning their authenticity and denouncing some prophet’s companions,.a teaching considered offensive by Muslims who are knowledgeable in the Islamic Holy books.

Change of Name

Kano State Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, while addressing journalists in Kano over the issue stated that the ban was with immediate effect, adding that the decision was taken at the State Executive Council’s weekly meeting which held at the Africa House, Government House, Kano.

Garba said, all his Seminaries are shut immediately to allow Security agents to investigate the Clergy’s activities.

“The State Executive Council has directed
directed all broadcast stations and social media platforms to abstain from airing inflammatory preachings, sermons, propagation and any other religious discussions in the interest of peace and tranquility in Kano State.”

The Commissioner also revealed that security agencies have been directed to ensure full compliance and take decisive action against any person or group found flouting the order.
