EFCC arrests ‘Yahoo, Yahoo’ trainees in Abuja
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday arrested students undergoing, ‘Yahoo, Yahoo’ training.
The suspects were 10 in numbers who were arrested at their Academy in Bwari axis of Abuja in a covert operation by the anti-graft operatives.
In a statement released to newsmen by EFCC stated that the suspects were learning computer-related fraud known as ‘Yahoo-Yahoo’ and trade of cyber trickery.
The suspects aged between 20 and 30 years, were identified as Sixtus Jude, Moses Samuel, Isalan Johnny, Dapet Nimshak, Samuel Ogboche, Victor Samuel, Victor Asuquo, Ibrahim Yunusa, Yahaya Usman and Chijoke Ikwuoha.
The statement said the proprietor of the Academy wasnon the run, but the suspects were found with incriminating items and were immediately taken into custody.
Investigations showed that the sponsor recruits and train young individuals who show interest in internet fraud.
The sponsor gets his percentage of their earnings based on an agreement between him and the recruits. He also serves as a conduit for laundering the money gotten from internet fraud by some of the suspects.
EFCC said it has commenced investigation and the suspects would be prosecuted when investigation is completed.
